Hi and Welcome!

There has been a lot of chaos in the media world in the last week. Between the sale of TechCrunch to another private equity outfit, (that happens to own a whole bunch of super low paying outlets),  the shutting down of one of the biggest consumer sites for automotive news and reviews (MotorAuthority, Green Car Reports, and The Car Connection), owned by Internet Brands, and a report that one of the worst paying outlets (which has regularly landed itself on this newsletter’s Dishonorable List repeatedly for the last two years for their garbage pay and practices), not only is a “sweat shop,” but its also has a blacklist of freelancers who complain about their absolutely abysmal and utterly unacceptable rates, things are unquestionably in flux.

If you’re a paid subscriber, you know that this newsletter stands out in a sea of others for a number of reasons, including the fact that I only include work that pays liveable wages and offers hybrid and remote options.

This week I’ve collected more than 30 new calls for pitches and jobs that pay $1 per word and up to $250,000 per year for remote, and hybrid writing, journalism and comms work. Publications and companies include The New York Times, Costco’s Magazine, Town & Country, Wired, AARP, Fortune, NPR, Crunchbase, Seed, Zoom, Bloomberg, Apple, Vox, and a whole lot more.

If you’re not a paid subscriber, then you’re missing out on everything from editor’s email addresses, to pitching guides, and more, which are all included in this weekly newsletter. Five dollars a month gets you access to every post on Beehiiv, while $3 gets you access to just this week’s post so you can try it out.

I also (as always) call it like I see it, and with nearly two decades of experience in media; ten years as a successful freelancer with current bylines with everyone from The Atlantic and Elle to National Geographic, The Verge and TechCrunch,  and ten years as a full-time CNN Senior Producer–I’ve worked a lot of places and with a lot of people, and have a ton of insight and intelligence about what’s really going on in major newsrooms all over the country.

If you’re tired of grinding through the thousands of unbelievably crappy writing, journalism, and communications jobs on the market right now, I make it a lot easier–by doing the work for you and curating this list of high-paying jobs every single week.

Become a paid subscriber to get immediate access to these job listings, editor email addresses, pay rates, and pitching guides.

Thanks for reading, and good luck out there!
