Six-Figure Journalism, Media and Communications Jobs for the Week Ending June 13

More than 25 new remote and hybrid jobs and calls for pitches that pay up to a whopping $400,000 per year and $1 per word, with editor email addresses, pitch guides, and pay rates included.

This week I’m keeping it simple once again. It’s been a busy week already, and we’re only halfway through it—even if it feels like it’s been an eon.

My heart and mind are currently with my hometown of LA —and I want to offer one note of perspective.

As a reminder: Journalists are trained to go, look, and point our cameras at the action. Remember, when you’re watching footage on social media or your nightly news, the aim is to show the action. While the LA protests are massive and mostly peaceful, there is a lot of false, fake content going around and tons of disinformation. Now, more than ever it’s vital to verify what you’re seeing, what you’re sharing, and what you’re reporting. These are unprecedented times, and it’s important to stay safe, stay vigilant (even during our own scrolling), and always find the real, hard facts.

For those new here, I’m Abigail Bassett, a highly successful freelance journalist and writer with a plethora of top-tier bylines to my name. I’ve been a successful freelance journalist for more than ten years.

If you’re curious about the jobs in this newsletter, I’m offering a free 30-day trial when you sign up for the $5 monthly plan.

For less than the cost of a cup of coffee you can get access to these jobs (and previous weeks listings), editor emails (which I include every week), pitch guides, insights about what its really like to work for these companies (via the Editor’s Notes), and everyone’s favorite section: The Dishonorable Mentions. There, I detail the worst media jobs (and companies) that consistently underpay for the work they’re offering.

One other thing: You won’t see these jobs in any other newsletter out there. I curate them directly via a number of different sites and get many listings directly. If I do see something on the numerous jobs newsletters I subscribe to, I’ll mention it in the Editor’s Notes.

Now on to the jobs highlights this week. Here's what I've gathered for you:

  • A fully remote position as a Publisher that pays a whopping $450,000 per year. It’s an amazing job.

  • A fully remote editorial director position that pays up to $140,000 per year.

  • A temporary news editor position that pays you $1400 a week for part-time work.

  • A number of new jobs and opportunities in the automotive industry that pay.

  • Five Dishonorable Mention jobs that you should absolutely avoid.

  • A new section I’m playing with to offer a little hope to those of you feeling down.
