How About a Stay in a Paris Bookstore?

Shakespeare and Co in Paris sits across the street from Notre Dame and offers a room to unpublished authors, writers, and avid readers.

Welcome to Shakespeare and Company, a small bookstore in Paris, directly across from Notre Dame, that offers a program called Tumbleweeds. 

Tumbleweeds was started by the bookstore’s founder, George Whitman, and it allows writers, unpublished authors, and avid readers to stay in a small room (for free) as long as you read a book a day, help restock the shelves, and do not post on social media about your stay. You’ll have to apply, and I’m sure there are thousands of applicants, but it's honestly the most lovely thing I've come across on the internet this week. 

And honestly, in this moment, it feels like a much-needed respite from the absolute horseshit that’s happening in the world. 

I took a day off from the internet this week to find some revolutionary joy, eat some pie, and hike in the snow, and it's definitely something I’m going to work on incorporating more of. We need rest to be resilient, and getting outside and connecting with people and animals we love is so vital right now. 

This Week in Six-Figure Media (and Media Adjacent) Jobs

Full-time work is robust, while last week’s freelance, part-time, and contract work was far more ample than it is this week. That’s just the nature of the cycle around here. The good news is that all the freelance work is fully remote. 

Full-time rates reach a whopping $274,000 per year.

 🎥 A television and movie publication is looking for an AI Reporter, and paying up to $130k
