Remote and Hybrid Six-Figure Journalism, Media, and Communications Jobs for the Week Ending November 28

New remote and hybrid calls for pitches and jobs that pay up to $165,000 per year, and an upcoming webinar on AI and journalism coming December 10, 2025.

What Caught My Eye This Week: Just a Quick Note

It’s a long holiday weekend, so I wanted to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving!

The jobs this week are a bit leaner because of the holiday (and because it is that time of year). As we move towards the Christmas holidays, things will slow down a bit more, but will absolutely come back in January when everyone’s budgets get renewed.

Also, just a reminder that on December 10 at 12 pm ET/9 am PT, I am going to offer a free, 30-minute webinar on the basics of AI and how you can (and should be) using it for your journalism work

We’ll talk through basic understanding of what AI is, and what it isn’t, and some of the ethical conversations that come up around its use.  I’ll also share the back-end prompt I use to keep things like GPT on track (and prevent it from making up facts) and how I use it as an editorial assistant to help me hone my pitches, ideas, and give usable feedback on stories I write.

If you’re interested, I’ll send out a sign-up link in the next newsletter (next week).

Paid $5-per-month subscribers will get access to an e-book version of the session following the event, as well as the recording, so you can actually apply what I share if you cannot make the session.

Those of you who free subscribers will only get access to the live event on December 10. And remember, at the end of November, the 7-day trial goes away for new subscribers.

If you want a quick primer ahead of this session, I address how to use AI when crafting your pitches in my new ebook and include the exact prompt I use to keep things reigned in. Get yours here.

Six-Figure Pitches: The Success Playbook for Landing High-Paying Stories in Top-Tier Publications in a Changing Media World

If you’ve ever stared at a blank email, wondering how to pitch your dream story to a top editor — this book is for you. In Six-Figure Pitches, Emmy-winning journalist Abigail Bassett shares the proven framework she’s used to land assignments with nationally known, top-tier publications, including The Atlantic, The Verge, Fast Company, Fortune, Forbes, Elle Magazine, National Geographic, Observer, Travel + Leisure, and more. Drawing from more than fifteen years in national newsrooms and a decade as a full-time freelancer, Bassett distills everything she’s learned about what editors actually want — and how to deliver it. This isn’t another generic writing guide. It’s a hands-on playbook for the modern freelancer navigating today’s fast-changing media world. Inside, you’ll learn: -How to find story ideas that sell themselves — and the outlets that will buy them. -The difference between a “topic” and a story, and why a story will land every time. -How to research and pre-report your idea before you ever hit send. -The three W’s every successful pitch must answer. (They aren't what you think!) -How to use AI responsibly to sharpen your pitch without losing your voice. -The art of following up, handling rejection, and building relationships that turn one pitch into repeat work. Packed with real-world examples, pro tips, and tools you can put to use right away, Six-Figure Pitches is both a masterclass and a survival guide for freelancers who want to thrive — not just survive — in journalism, writing and content. Because pitching isn’t just about selling a story. It’s about building a career that lasts. Perfect for: Freelance writers, editors, journalism students, content creators, and anyone ready to turn great ideas into paid assignments.
